pet-peeve wednesday

I have decided to spice my blog up a little bit. Starting today, I am going to have a special post every Wednesday called Pet-Peeve Wednesday..... has a nice ring to it right? ( not so much). So I know EVERYONE has A PET-PEEVE. I figured I would express mine every week and share it with you all. This is not meant to be a debbie-downer post. I just think it would be fun to express the little things that make us irritated in life.

So to start off this glorious weekly post I will let you know about one of my worst ( if that's how you state it ) pet -peeves E.V.E.R!

I really can't stand when people take sexy, cute, scandolous pictures of themselves and post them on their facebook, myspace, etc. You know, the pictures with 1/2 their arm in them with the pouty lips, seductive eyes? Oh lord, I can't stand to see those pictures! It just screams " I think I'm hot so I'm gonna take a picture of myself". It's almost like these people don't think we know that they take the picture of themself.

So for the future...please don't be that person who takes a picture of themself to look cool on facebook or myspace? I know someone that is in my family that does it and it KILLS me when I see the pictures.

For all you readers... what's a pet-peeve of yours?

soda

I gave up soda's ya know? I really did. I only drank diet soda, I hate all the sugar in regular soda. I prefer diet dr. pepper or diet pepsi. I hate diet coke, gross....... buuuuuuut if its the only diet drink available, I sadly oblige and I drink it. Since I have had my acid reflux, I decided to do a process of elimination of food and drinks. What can be causing the painful reflux? spicy foods? starches? milk? ( wait- I don't drink milk), sodas? pasta? soup? chips? I DON'T KNOW! I do know that baked potatoes gave me a bad case of acid reflux a while back, I certainly quite baked potatoes since that painful occurence.

In all seriousness, I really did give up sodas. I haven't drank one in a month. This is a big thing for me, really it is. Since quitting, my reflux has been more than good, except when I ate that baked potatoe. You see, if we went out to eat somewhere I almost always got a soda because I hate tea and am not fond of tap water so my only option was................. soda. ( this is where I drank diet coke in all my misery)

Really, I have a point to this post. It all started with today. I went to chipotle with my co-workers and of course didn't think about getting a drink since we always have bottled water at the office. Fast forward.... now back to the office, open the fridge, NO WATER BOTTLES. I secretly throw a fit in my head thinking WHO.THE.HECK.DRANK.ALL.THE.WATER????? Well, sadly, I think it was me, but didn't want to admit it. I proceed to get a cup for some water out of our water machine-thing. You know - the Ozarka big jug things? I fill my cup and take a drink ....isn't that water supposed to be cold? Am I right? Well, it wasn't - go figure. So I again, I started to throw a fit in my head thinking....WHY.ISN'T.THIS.WATER.COLD??? Being a brat that I am, I dumped out the water. I then thought, "well what the heck am I going to drink for lunch?" Oh you better believe the light bulb went off in my head. " OH I HAVE A DIET DR. PEPPER in the fridge never been opened and it's been sitting there, waiting , for moments like this, waiting for me to pick it up and ENDULGE myself.

I had a little battle with myself for a moment....contemplating..."should i? no, don't do it, you've been so good....but I'M.THRISTY!" Well................ I did it. I opened the soda. Let me tell you something......it was THE.BEST.SODA.I'VE.EVER.HAD. plain and simple my friends. No lying there. I would take little sips, trying to savor the moment. It really was the best soda I have ever had, ok maybe that is an exaggeration, but it really was good. Chick-fil-a HAS THE BEST diet dr. pepper ever.....so fresh...so crisp....yuuuuuuuuuum. Oh sorry, I was just fantisizing about my ddp. Sick, I know.

Just to let you know.... I didn't drink the whole soda. I didn't even drink 1/2 of the soda. I threw it away. The carbination was too much for me to handle. I couldn't do it. As good as it was, I "manned" up and tossed it in the trash can. I really thought I was getting sick there for a second as I tossed the bottle in the trash. Fever? Headache? I didn't know what was happening??

Actually, I knew what was happening. I realized that I couldn't drink soda. Sad Sad day.
Needless to say, I am done with sodas, for now :)

Wow, I can't believe I really wrote a post about soda. Oh well, it's my blog right?
Hope everyong has a good weekend!

since i don't have kids.....

I take pictures of my dogs. But when the day comes, and I have kids, this blog will be overflowing with pictures of my sweet little ones! :) But, until then, my dogs are my kids and they are photo subjects. Since I got my new camera, I've been dying to take some GOOD pictures with it but I really haven't had the chance. So I just take pictures of my dogs while trying to get familar with my camera. So many settings, so many buttons, so much information.

With no further a due... I present you Rocky, Nakona and Pearl. The 3 dogs of my life.
Sidenote: Pearl is my brother and fiance's dog.

2nd Annual Zack Grafe Alumni Game

The game was a success! It was VERY COLD and WINDY that night which made it for an interesting game. We played 5 innings and the score was 14-13 , alumni lost, BUT it was a good game! We would of won if we would of played a full 7 innings :) The turn out wasn't as large as last year but I think because it was FREEZING cold outside. I still like to think it was a great day and I know everyone else will agree. Brandon was one of the umpires which was fun to see him out there calling the game. It was definitely interesting when I was catching and he was the home plate umpire :) Jill Grafe , Coach Grafe's wife came to the game along with the kids, Riley, Reagan and Little Zack. They are growing up so fast! I was a Jr. when Riley ( 7) was born. Jill gave an amazing speech that touched us all. One thing she said was that Coach Grafe would be so proud of us alumni and one thing he never did was quit. She said one of the last things he said to her was " Are they going to let me die" ? Of course Jill said no, and she knew from there that he wasn't gonna quit of give up. Although in life, things may get tough or hard, we can't give up or quit and Coach Grafe NEVER DID. He fought a 7 year battle with Leukemia, and although he didn't win, I know he won in other ways of his life. We all miss him very much and will continue to have an alumni game for years to come. When I gave my little speech I told Jill that we will be here for the next 30 years , even when I am 50 I'll be here, putting together the game. Jill gave us alumni a box of paper and pens and wanted us to write down memories we had of Coach Grafe because she is making a scrap book for the kids so when they are able to read and look at it they can read and never forget their dad.

As of right now, we are at $6,500. I wasn't expecting that at all. Last year we raised a lot more but I know that every bit helps, right? This alumni game is my "baby" and I'm just proud to say that I am able to take part is such a great event.

So here are just some of the pictures I took at the game. Sidenote: I made these pictures look like old Polaroid pictures by using this website.... www.polaroid.net . It's fun! Try I

i'm a little over my head

That just might be an understatement my friends. I'm ALOT over my head and then some. My position at my job has changed with means more work for me. Not double the work, not triple the work, but QUADRUPLE the work. Yep, I said it.... 4 times more work than I had before. I was just doing School Walk for Diabetes which is a huge job in itself. But now, I have been "promoted" to Camp Director for Camp Rainbow and Camp Lotta Bright Hope(camps for kids living with diabetes), along with overseeing FRN ( Family Resource Network) and I am still doing School Walk. Needless to say, I am ONE BUSY BEE!
Not to mention, I am planning the 2nd Annual Zach Grafe Alumni Game which is happening this weekend Jan. 10th @ 6:00pm at the Clements Softball Fields. Once again, I am hoping this will be a HUGE success like last year. I am starting to get a little worried because time is ticking away. I did just confirm the t-shirts for the game to be worn by the players and shirts to be sold to family and friends that attend the game. Say a little prayer that everything will be OK! :) Jill and the kids should be attending the game ( Coach Grafe's wife) which I am very happy about!
Needless to say, I am a very busy girl who barely gets to see her husband due to his crazy work hours and goes to my parents house almost everyday so I don't sit all alone in my townhouse. Oh woe is me.
Hope ya'll are doing great and your year has started off with a BANG!
