cracker

What is this world coming to? Seriously, I really want to know. There are so many things in life that happen on a daily basis that I wonder about. Times are changing, yes. Work life, home life, raising children, lifestyle changes etc. To be honest ( since I was honest last post) I really am at a loss of words today. I thought I knew EXACTLY what I was going to write concerning this post. I really am out of sorts as I write this post.

My blood pressure SHOT SKYROCKET high this afternoon while giving a kick-off at a school. I enjoy my job, I really do. I get to work with kids everyday, what can beat that? I love kids, if anyone knows me well enough they KNOW I love kids.

I don't even know where to begin?
Long story short.....

I had to go to the bathroom, so I went. I did my business ( sorry for the graphics ) and then proceeded to wash my hands. By the way, this was the end of the day and I was ready to get out of there. I wash my hands then dry them. As I am walking out of the bathroom, I see a group of kids walking down the hall I was about to walk down as well. As I continue to walk out of the bathroom this boy yelled out " HEY CRACKER".

I LITERALLY STOPPED IN MY TRACKS.

How the hell ( sorry for the cussing ) am I supposed to react to that racial slur that was just said to me? REALLY??!?!?!? The other kids that were with the boy that said that started to laugh and chuckle and whisper. I continued to walk down the hall as if I didn't hear it, but boy, did my face show it - it was beat red.

A middle school boy just called me a CRACKER? I took offense to that remark, that was a racial slur. I didn't even do a darn thing to him to call me that he did. This kid called me a cracker and laughed about it.

WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO????????????

i would say that middle school kids don't typically know the weight of their words. and in his world...that was funny. im proud of you for not smackin down, but you should totally (calmly) say something next time a little child thinks a racial slur is funny. whether it means anything to him at the time or not, somewhere down the road he might remember that chick who called him out and realize that's not right :)

love you woman.
